How to Use Fold Over Cord Ends to Finish Ball Chain

Hi this is Julie with Beadaholique.com and today
I’m gonna show you a quick little technique that will allow you to
incorporate ball chain into your beading projects and a little bit easier way than having
to use it where you use the classic little clasp here which is what you’re
probably most familiar with the ball chain. You have the rough end like this
with a little ball you put into the clasp and it secures it this is great if you have a finished necklace and you have a pendant on it but it’s not so great if you wanna attach a different kind
of clasp or other component to your ball chain so what I want to introduce you to is the idea of using the ball chain in
conjunction with fold over cord ends with the loop and then to that loop you can attach a
jump ring or another clasp or another component to secure this what you’re going to do is you’re going to lay the ball chain into the little well there now I actually recommend laying it two beads ahead so you’ve got two beads sticking out of
it got two beads in the well itself and you’ve got the rest of you length of ball chain hanging out of it what that does is it lets you actually grip the ball chain so you can hold it when you use your pliers so it’s not falling out of there grip your ball chain take your chain nose pliers squeeze one end over on top of the ball chain and do the other end go back and forth and then what I want you to do is, in the
little area where you have the well, you have the little piece of wire between the two balls squeeze extra hard right there make a little dent there you go now that ball chain is not going anywhere, it’s
secure in there, you have a nice finished end and now we just need to cut off the two
little balls that were sticking out just like so I’m tugging on that good and nothing is
coming out. You have a nice finished end which you can attach other components to. Go to www.beadaholique.com to purchase beading supplies and to get design ideas!
